How to Dress Up As a Nurse

Nursing uniforms have come a long ways from the days of Florence Nightingale’s proper white dresses. Nursing uniforms are now vibrant and come in a variety of prints and styles. They’re designed for comfort and practicality. If you need to dress up as a nurse, for Halloween, costume party or career day start with scrubs, sneakers or nursing shoes, and a stethoscope.

1

Visit a hospital uniform store or thrift store. If you aren’t worried about cost, you can purchase scrubs and stethoscopes from a hospital uniform store. If you’re on a budget, visit a local thrift store. Look for scrubs, white sneakers and stethoscopes. You can also opt to purchase a toy doctor kit from a toy store and use a fake stethoscope.
2

Make your costume your own. Traditionally, a nursing uniform is white. However, you can choose scrubs in a variety of colors and patterns. Choose your favorite color or a cartoon character you may really like.
3

Wear clean, white nursing shoes or white sneakers. For a polished look, wear white socks with white sneakers.
4

Place your stethoscope around your neck.
5

Make an identification badge. Laminate your photo with your name and the letters “RN” underneath. Use a pin to attach your identification badge to your costume.
6

Add fake blood, if your costume is for Halloween. Purchase a tube of fake blood from a party store or Halloween store. Sprinkle a little blood on your scrubs.
